Ingredients:
- Chayote – 1
- Red chillies – 4
- Grated coconut – ½ cup
- Coriander leaves
- Fried gram – 2 tsp
- Salt
- Garlic – small piece
- For Seasoning – oil - 2 tsp, mustard seeds – ¼ tsp, hing, channa dal – ½ tsp
Method:
- Peel off the skin of chayote, cut it lengthwise and pressure cook it.
- For masala, grind coconut, salt, fried gram, garlic, red chillies to coarse powder.
- In a frying pan, add oil, mustard seeds, once it splutters, add hing, channa dal
- When channa dal turns brown, add cooked chayote and sauté it for few seconds
- Now add grounded masala and sauté it for 5 more min
- Garnish with coriander leaves
- Tastes good with chapathi, rice-rasam
